HOUSTON’S FREQUENTLY ASKED ROOFING QUESTIONS
Determining whether you need a roof repair or a full replacement can be complex, often requiring professional assessment. However, here are some general indicators that might help guide your decision:
Age of Roof: The age of your roof is a significant factor. Most shelters have a lifespan of 20 to 30 years. If your roof nears this age, it might be time for a replacement.
Condition of Shingles: Inspect the condition of the shingles. A replacement might be necessary if they are curling, buckling, or missing in several areas.
Leakage: Multiple leaks or a single but significant leak could indicate that your roof needs replacing.
Water Damage or Rot: Check for signs of water damage or rot in your attic and roof decking.
Granule Loss: If your asphalt shingles are shedding granules found in gutters, it’s a sign of wear that could necessitate a roof replacement.
Sagging Roof: A sagging roof is a serious problem and usually requires roof replacement.
Moss and Algae Growth: While moss and algae can be cleaned off, their presence suggests moisture problems that might require closer inspection.
Energy Bills: A sudden spike in your energy bills might indicate that your roof no longer provides adequate insulation.
For a more precise assessment, it’s advisable to have a professional roof inspector evaluate the condition of your roof. TrueWorks Roofing offers a free inspection and a quick 60-second online roof quote on our website, trueworksroofing.com, to help you understand your roofing needs better and make an informed decision.

Advocacy: Having an advocate during the insurance claim process is beneficial, as your insurance company’s interests may not fully align with yours.

Not really. Warranties vary significantly across different manufacturers, covering various aspects of the roofing system for varying durations. It’s uncommon for anyone to offer a warranty that extends beyond the manufacturer’s guarantee as the terms are set by the manufacturer. Hence, it’s crucial to understand the specifics of the warranty being offered, including what is covered and for how long, to ensure you’re adequately protected.

Roof lifespan varies greatly by material:
Asphalt Shingle Roofs: These popular roofs last about 20 to 30 years, blending affordability with durability.
Tile Roofs: With a lifespan of 50 years or more, tile roofs are a timeless, sturdy choice.
Metal Roofs: Exceptionally durable, metal roofs can last 40 to 70 years, offering modern aesthetics and minimal maintenance.
Proper installation and weather conditions significantly influence your roof’s longevity. Each roofing type has its unique appeal, making the choice dependent on personal preferences, budget, and the desired aesthetic for your home.
Stephanie Cole2025-07-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Prep process was great. We had to have the roof done as part of the house buying process. The team was super helpful through quote, scheduling and even color selection. The crew day of communicated well and were super tidy. Even the neighbors were impressed, which mattered as we are new here! Thank you to the full team Verlyn King2025-07-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wonderful event held every first Wednesday of every month. Keep up the good job…and this is coming from a competitor lol Jaisent Patel2025-06-21Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From sales through installation, the TrueWorks team was great to work with. They are patient, knowledgable and passionate about roofing. The quality of materials they sell and the techniques they use to install are best in class. They did a standing seam metal roof on my home in February 2025 where they worked around the snow storm, and they didn't miss a beat. We are elated with the final product, and we are also pleasantly surprised that the metal roof stays very quiet through heavy rain storms. I assume a lot of it has to do with the proper installation of the roofing system. The crew was respectful and kept the property clean, and they did a thorough job with the install. As with any serious construction project, I did have a couple minor/cosmetic concerns -- and the mark of a great company is how they handle it. Jessica, Joel, Laura, Alex, Gabriel and the whole team worked to make everything right. I have and will continue to recommend this team. Omar Saman2025-06-09Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. TrueWorks roofing did an exceptional job with the standing seam metal roof on my home. They streamlined the process, answered all my questions and were quick to find solutions to any issues we ran into. I had a more complicated roof than most, but they never made it seem that it was anything they couldn’t handle. I am extremely happy with the outcome and I would highly recommend them to anyone that is in need of a roofer. It’s hard to find contractors you can trust, but you can definitely trust Joel and the rest of the crew at TrueWorks Roofing. Thanks again! Garret Schoppe2025-06-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very informative and super nice personnel. Excellent communication and great work. Went above and beyond expectations. Fran Leal2025-06-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It’s an unusual experience to do business with True Works Roofing. Everyone should strive to be them, but most business owners have no concept of how to hit their standard of excellence, nor do they want to. It takes extra time, requires some specialized equipment to protect their customer’s property, and it is necessary to create teams that are well trained, well supervised and work in perfect synchronization. True Works jobs are hands on, from Laura, one of the owners, took point on my job. Scampered around on my roof, took photos, before and after. She worked up my quote right after she came off the roof, then talked me through it, fully educating me about the new materials they use to replace a roof, and do repairs to deteriorated decking. Extra features Laura suggested including building a cricket, which diverts water around a chimney on the high side of a roof. This prevents rain water from collecting and seeping in. I had this happen on two occasions, but not again! My attic got a big boost in air flow to keep it cooler by adding soffit vents, and a solar powered attic fan that automatically opens and pulls cool air through vents and out by the fan, like the vent fans in your kitchen. The fan automatically cuts off when the thermostat senses correct temperature. Angel supervised my job, arriving at 6:00 am, and quietly distributed everything around my house the installers would need when they arrived an hour later. The ground crew kept the job site clean and safe, continuously removing debris. Laura visited 4 or 5 times checking on things and adding a few extra touches, including a very thorough final inspection and picking up a few nails she carefully searched for. I got a quote from one of Houston’s well known roofers. He did not get on my roof, fly a drone over, or ask any questions. He used GIS, and delivered his bid, saying only, call me if you have any questions! He bid a lower class roof, and included no upgrades. His bid was just $1,200 less……NOPE. The second was a small independent contractor, who came well recommended. Better contact and some upgrades, but still lower grade shingles, and similar price to the “drop the bid and run guy,” for a company that has much lower overhead. Nice guy, but, NOPE. These are straight up good people. They are honest, trustworthy and make it look easy! I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH MY EXPERIENCE WITH TRUE WORKS ROOFING AND EVERY PART OF OUR WORK TOGETHER! I CONFIDENTLY RECOMMEND THEM! Erik Smith2025-05-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. TrueWorks did a great job! After we discoverd a leak, we called TrueWorks and they came out the same day. The problem was fixed and the process was smooth. Thanks Joel and Laura! Nicole Vander Griend2025-05-23Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great experience, professional, and did a great job! Hubert Lam2025-05-19Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ian, Angel, and the rest of the Trueworks team did an excellent job from beginning to finish. They addressed my questions and concerns. They additionally advised that the builder had implemented attic ventilation incorrectly and corrected it. This resulted in a noticeable improvement in attic temps which are now not much higher than ambient. Hopefully, this will help my AC run more efficiently.
